459: Dietary Propaganda In India

459: Dietary Propaganda In India

Author: Heartcast Media January 29, 2024 Duration: 36:42
India is NOT a vegetarian nation. Only about 20% of the population does not eat meat. However, there is a growing anti-meat movement in India that is negatively impacting many in that country. Today, Dr. Sylvia Karpagam goes over the societal, governmental, and corporate forces that are a part of the propaganda wave. The efforts include banning eggs and meat from school lunches.   Dr. Sylvia is a public health doctor and human rights advocate who explains how the traditional caste system in India plays a part in the biases against meat. She also covers the current state of nutrition and well-being in that country, how far some go to penalize meat eaters, and how and why some are promoting a nutrient-poor, cereal-heavy diet to those who are most in need of nutrient-rich foods.   Check out Dr. Karpagam's blog: drsylviakarpagam.wordpress.com - https://drsylviakarpagam.wordpress.com Follow Weston A. Produced by Heartcast Media, Wise Traditions is a conversation about health that begins with a simple, radical idea: our ancestors might have known better. This podcast explores the foundations of well-being found in time-honored practices, traditional diets, and holistic living, moving beyond the confines of modern, engineered solutions. Each episode delves into practical and philosophical discussions on how to apply this ancestral wisdom to contemporary life, covering topics from nutrition and fitness to broader lifestyle choices that align with nature's rhythms. The dialogue is built on the premise that true vitality comes not from dominating the natural world, but from understanding and cooperating with it, a concept famously echoed by Dr. Weston A. Price. You'll hear from a variety of voices-practitioners, researchers, and everyday people-who are integrating these principles to cultivate resilience and health. It’s for anyone feeling disconnected from simplistic health trends and seeking a deeper, more rooted path to wellness. Tune in for thoughtful, often challenging conversations that reconnect the dots between what we’ve forgotten and how we can truly thrive.
