Kortney Ross: Supporting Working Parents

Kortney Ross: Supporting Working Parents

Author: Veronica Malolos, CCIM June 14, 2024 Duration: 15:29

This week on Women Influencers, I spoke with Kortney Ross. She is a business consultant and podcaster who helps leaders support working parents so that they can create workplace cultures that attract and retain the best people.

We discussed how she grew up with young parents in a tight knit family, and became the first college graduate of that family. Her whole life she wanted to be a teacher, and that is a goal she achieved. She taught music in Nashville to children of all age groups ranging from Pre-K to High School. Her career began to change when she had her son only 2 weeks before the COVID Pandemic lockdowns began. As you can imagine, adjusting to life as a new parent and teaching in a newly remote environment was a challenge.

Eventually, Kortney found that although teaching had been a goal and a joy for so long, it came to the point that it wasn’t working for her and her family any more. She had to be brave and make a change.

We spoke about bravery, influence, and DEI.
