206: Why To Consider a 4 Day Work Week

206: Why To Consider a 4 Day Work Week

Author: Jake Jorgovan November 16, 2021 Duration: 8:44

Traveling or engaging in other activities outside of work is always great. But trying to fit in a full week of work in a three- to four-day period to accommodate these activities can be stressful if not approached correctly. Instead of feeling anxious about getting everything done, I've found it's best to re-prioritize work and focus on the essentials.

In this episode of the Working Without Pants podcast, I share my journey of how I've come to love a three- to four-day workweek while still being able to accomplish everything I need to.

My first tip if you're feeling overwhelmed while trying to manage work with play is to take a step back and ask yourself, "What happens if I don't get XYZ tasks done this week?" What you'll find is that many of the things you're stressing about can be pushed back without any consequences. Making this paradigm shift isn't about making an excuse to be lazy, but rather it's about supporting your mental health while being fully engaged on the days you are working.

Minimizing your workweek can actually bring about more productivity on the tasks that really matter and allow you more freedom to pursue your interests outside of work.

For anyone running a creative agency or building a consulting practice, the daily hustle involves far more than just doing great work-it's about building a sustainable business on your own terms. Working Without Pants-Creative Entrepreneurship digs into that reality with host Jake Jorgovan. Instead of abstract theory, this podcast focuses on the tangible strategies and conversations that actually lead to landing better clients and more fulfilling projects. Jorgovan sits down with practitioners who have been in the trenches, people like Brennan Dunn, Brent Weaver, Kai Davis, and Blair Enns, to dissect what works now. You'll hear specific stories about pricing, positioning, sales conversations, and the operational shifts that allow a solo practitioner or small team to thrive without burning out. The discussions are grounded in the intersecting worlds of arts, business, and design, recognizing that creative entrepreneurship requires a unique blend of vision and commercial savvy. Tune in for a candid exchange of ideas that feels more like a mastermind session than a formal interview, all aimed at helping you refine your offer and reclaim your time. This is a resource for those ready to move beyond just being busy and build a business that truly works.
