We received a visit to our 98.9 WXCO studios on Saturday by State Senator and Democratic candidate for Governor Kelda Roys. We discussed her being born and raised in central Wisconsin, her reasons for running, issues such as dealing with the federal government, wind and solar power, rural access to health care and more. It is the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr holiday. We go back to May of 1967 and listen to a speech the Civic Rights Icon gave at Marathon Park in Wausau. So many of the issues and topics that King discussed that day are still relevant to our country today. We start the show with a commentary on the scenes last night in Minneapolis. Discuss how the "plan" of too many Democratic leaders is to wait for November and win the midterm elections. With Trump threatening to use the Insurrection Act, there is not a guarantee there will be elections. Plus, it appears the people are once against ahead of their leaders. We talk about his priorities including stopping the trend of lower numbers of 18 to 35 years living in Wisconsin, hospital access in rural areas, insurance, child care, immigration, the budget surplus and more In hour 2 we are joined by Grand Theater Executive Director Sean Wright to talk about a great holiday season that just concluded plus a busy schedule of shows in the lead up to the start in May of the renovation of the Grand. We also discuss in the Department of Justice not investigating the actions of the ICE officer who shot Renee Good last week. It has led to resignations and further questions about the politicization of the DOJ under Trump. Also, we try to bring "context" to the discussion of the tragic killing of Renee Nicole Good. A conservative talk show host in Wausau claims that "context" shows that the shooting was justified. We breakdown that argument and add some "context" missing from the MAGA commentary of the incident. The Packers lose in Chicago Saturday and see their season come to an end. What now?
