Pigeon Detectives "Wait For Me" with Jimmi Naylor

Author: XS Manchester August 2, 2021 Duration: 31:05
On this episode we look back at Pigeon Detectives 2007 album "Wait For Me" with the bands drummer (and more) Jimmi Naylor. This was the Leeds band's debut album and it contained some MASSIVE songs that are still very much part of the bands live set today (they're still together, making music and touring). Tunes like 'Romantic Type', 'I Found Out' and 'Take Her Back' we're all very much staples of indie rock radio radio in the late 00s but it was live where the band really gained their reputation - which Jimmi talks about in detail on the podcast. You can check out the album on Spotitfy via: https://open.spotify.com/album/3EVZWeTZ5XDe8Z1O746XP3?si=McC4I4h0TfW8K96j2SJQDg&dl_branch=1As well as still being part of Pigeon Detectives Jimmi is nowadays mainly mixing artists, he's helping a range of alternative artists, both independent and signed on the mixing and mastering front, so if you are an artist listening, check out website to see how he can help you: www.jimminaylor.com.  The XS Long player Podcast is taken from the XS Long player radio show on XS Manchester: A classic album played in full every Thursday night ay 8pm (GMT) listen live via www.xsmanchester.co.uk Learn more about your ad choices. There’s a particular magic to an album that defines a moment, an album you know from the first chord to the final run-out groove. XS Long Player: Classic Indie Albums is about revisiting that magic with the very people who created it. Host Jim Salveson sits down with artists, producers, and key figures to unpack the stories behind indie rock's most essential records. This isn't just a retrospective; it's a conversation that digs into the studio tensions, the sudden inspirations, and the cultural context that turned these collections of songs into enduring classics. The scope is broad and heartfelt, spanning the raw energy of punk, the swagger of Britpop, the anthems of Madchester, and everything in between. Each episode focuses on a single landmark LP, letting the guests narrate its journey from idea to artifact. You’ll hear how certain tracks almost didn't make the cut, the meaning behind obscured lyrics, and what was really happening as the tape rolled. These interviews, originally recorded for XS Manchester's Long Player series, are presented here in their full, engaging depth. The aim is simple: to enrich your understanding and rekindle that initial thrill, sending you back to your own collection to listen with fresh ears, all the way to the hole in the middle.
