We’ve had some unusual themes in our program but ‘Sand’ must be one of the more unusual. Surprisingly, there are enough songs with ‘Sand’ or ‘Beach’ to choose from.

This episode starts with America’s rousing ‘Sandman’, followed by Jimi Hendrix and his unmistakable guitar riffs with ‘Castles Made of Sand’. Going way back to the fifties is American singer Don Rondo’s ‘White Silver Sands’ and Rusty Draper’s sad story of the dead miner in ‘The Shifting Whispering Sands’. Cliff Richard and The Shadows (On The Beach), Jan and Dean (Surfin’ USA), and First Class (Beach Baby) provide the beach scene.
