025 Too Much Security

025 Too Much Security

Author: Gabriel Grimes July 21, 2019 Duration: 7:40
Let's be clear on one thing. You are Security. Your Security is based on what you do and don't do regarding the risks that you face everyday. That being said you might think that adding more cameras or guards is the best way to increase your awareness and preparation. And this isn't alway the right choice. As a corporate security manager, I would inform the executive of the events going on in the Company and when it came to a crisis or a risk that they hadn't thought of, they would often say, "Increase the security". This was translated to mean add more guards and cameras. And it was my job to take that direction and develop an environment that promoted security awareness and mitigated the gaps they perceived. In other words, I would come up with a simple plan that didn't alway need more cameras or guards but a simple change in policy or a tighter procedure to create the desired outcome. More physical security tools aren't the answer to everything. This is why it's important to do a proper assessment, identify the gaps in your organization, and select the proper solution to mitigate the gap. You will thank me later.  #YouAreSecurity #YourSecurity #YoureSecurity
