Ψυχή (psyche) means 'soul'. The verb is ψύχω (psycho) and it means 'to breath life into something or someone' so, it actually means 'breath of life'. In Greek-Roman mythology, Psyche was a young woman even prettier than Aphrodite herself and that made the Goddess furious. So much so, that she sent her son Eros to make a fool out of Psyche but then, they fell in love for real. The story is quite long but very interesting to read so, do have a look when you get some time. The word in English is pronounced and spelled based on the Latin translation of the Greek one. PSYCHE.
