The Heavy

The Heavy pitches itself simply: music you know, artists you don't - yet. Run by Heavy Promotions, this independent Australian web station builds its whole identity around discovery, championing independent musicians, emerging bands and online creators alongside the retro hits listeners already love.

The show list explains the balance. Club Retro rolls out the hits of the 80s and 90s with interviews with the stars that shaped the era, The Year That Was replays a single year's music against its news and pop culture, and The Tribute Show sits down with the tribute bands working Australia's pub circuit. Wildcard Wednesday and Fans in Focus give rising talent and listener stories airtime, and song requests run through the schedule.

Broadcasting in English over a free live stream, The Heavy covers a broad pop span - chart hits, the 2000s, a comedy streak and plenty of new music - making it an easy, distinctive independent web radio listen online.
