ABC Central West

ABC Central West - 2CR on the callsign - is the ABC Local Radio station for the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, based in Orange and on air since 29 April 1937, making it one of the oldest stations in the national broadcaster's stable.

Its AM signal on 549 kHz, fired from a transmitter at Cumnock with 50 kilowatts, is one of the most powerful in Australia - under normal daytime conditions it can be picked up in Northern Victoria and south-western Queensland, far beyond its home patch of Bathurst, Lithgow, Mudgee and Parkes.

A web of FM repeaters covers the rest of the region, from Goulburn to Young, Kandos to Crookwell, carrying a talk-led mix of local news, rural affairs and ABC programming. Free to stream online, it makes an easy local news web radio listen - nearly ninety years of Central West voices, from the orchards of Orange to anywhere in the world.
