Splendid AM 990

Splendid AM 990 is one of the grand names of Argentine radio: born on September 6, 1924 as Radio Grand Splendid, broadcasting from the theater that today houses the famous El Ateneo Grand Splendid bookstore. It turned one hundred and still says good morning.

In the golden age it was the elegant dial: Garcia Lorca presented a play on it in 1933, Nini Marshall invented her immortal characters here and Tarzan swung through the afternoon radionovelas. The century passed - state intervention, name changes, a spell as La 990 - and in 2023 the station recovered its historic name for its hundredth birthday.
