About Studio Brussel

Studio Brussel has been Flanders' alternative conscience since 1 April 1983, when it began as a Brussels regional service of the old BRT, broadcasting in rush hour only. It grew into a nationwide VRT station with a sound deliberately left of the mainstream: rock first, plus metal, hip hop, house and techno.

The station's institution is the Tijdloze 100, the annual listener chart of timeless tracks that has crowned Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam and Gorki's Mia in different years. Around it sits a new-music identity that made Stu Bru the tastemaker of Flemish youth radio - and, remarkably, the most popular foreign station in the Netherlands.

Heard across Flanders on FM and DAB+, and into the border regions of the Netherlands and France, the station also streams worldwide through VRT's platform, opening in any web player or radio app. Free public-service web radio from Belgium - a live alternative listen online, four decades strong.
