Radio VRR is the Lazarus of Flemish local radio: refused a broadcast licence back in 1983 and silenced for four decades, it returned when old team members ran into each other in 2023, dragged up the memories and relaunched the station online as Rupel1 - the webradio of the Rupelstreek. The format is a deliberate span: all the hits from 1960 to 2000, forty years of pop history under the banner Meer Hits, Meer Muziek. During Rumst's annual More

About Radio VRR

Radio VRR is the Lazarus of Flemish local radio: refused a broadcast licence back in 1983 and silenced for four decades, it returned when old team members ran into each other in 2023, dragged up the memories and relaunched the station online as Rupel1 - the webradio of the Rupelstreek.

The format is a deliberate span: all the hits from 1960 to 2000, forty years of pop history under the banner Meer Hits, Meer Muziek. During Rumst's annual jaarmarkt and special events the station even returns to FM on 87.6 - a nod to the terrestrial roots the licence never let it keep.

Distribution is thoroughly modern: website player, TuneIn, Radio.net and other portals, direct stream link, Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands - say Alexa or Google, play Rupel1. The 320 kbps MP3 stream opens in any web player or radio app. Free oldies web radio - a live listen online, the Rupelstreek revived in digital form.
