Rádio Arara Azul 96.9 FM

Arara Azul FM 96.9 - named for the hyacinth macaw of the Amazon - broadcasts from Parauapebas, Pará, the boomtown the Carajas iron mines built. Its motto warms the format: uma historia de amor com voce, a love story with you.

The grid mixes hits with service: Canto da Arara at dawn, Alerta 96 in the morning, Pega Leve at midday, Arara News in the afternoon and Geracao 96 in the evening - and, tellingly, A Hora do Angelus at 18:00, the Catholic prayer that still structures life in interior cities. A news portal runs alongside, with police and community coverage from the Bairro dos Minerios to the PA-275 highway.

Run by Fundacao Educacional e Cultural Nativa, with studios on Rua São Paulo in central Parauapebas and a locutor team of its own, the station streams around the clock - free web radio to listen online, the sound of the Carajas region carried anywhere its people may be.
