Rádio Azul

Radio Azul is one of the most specific folk stations imaginable: a web radio from Itapiranga, deep in Amazonas, dedicated to the toadas - the folk songs - of the Bois Bumbás of northern Brazil, with special devotion to the toadas of Boi Bumbá Mineirinho, the local ox of the bumba-meu-boi tradition.

The project, presented by the MS Digital studio and run by Mario Souza - Mario do Boi - is explicitly a homage to the folklore and popular culture of the Amazon. Where most stations chase hits, this one preserves the drum-and-ox songbook of the northern festivals, around the clock, with no commercial detours of any kind.

The same small studio also hosts a Messianic Judaism project, Radio Êxodo, on a separate channel. Free web radio to listen online, at any hour of the day or night, from the Amazon river villages to folklore researchers and northern emigrants everywhere.
