Axwell /\ Ingrosso
Axwell /\ Ingrosso: Swedish House Powerhouses
Axwell /\ Ingrosso was a Swedish DJ and production duo, formed by two-thirds of the legendary supergroup Swedish House Mafia. The pair, consisting of Axel "Axwell" Hedfors and Sebastian Ingrosso, became a dominant force in the global electronic dance music scene following Swedish House Mafia's initial hiatus. Their collaboration resulted in major festival anthems and significant chart success, particularly in their native Sweden and across Europe.
Early Career
Both Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso had established, prolific solo careers in the Swedish and European house music circuits long before joining forces as a duo. Axwell founded the label Axtone Records in 2005, while Ingrosso co-founded Refune Records in 2006, with both platforms becoming influential outlets for house music. Their individual work, along with their integral roles in Swedish House Mafia since its 2008 formation, laid the groundwork for their future partnership.
Breakthrough
The duo officially formed in 2014, capitalizing on the massive audience and momentum from Swedish House Mafia. Their breakthrough came quickly with the release of "Something New" in 2014, which was premiered at the Tomorrowland festival and became a staple in their sets. Their 2015 single "Sun Is Shining" was a major international hit, reaching number one in Sweden and charting across Europe, solidifying their status as festival headliners.
Key Tracks
Sun Is Shining - This 2015 single became their signature track, topping the Swedish charts and achieving platinum certifications in multiple countries for its euphoric, sun-drenched melody.
Something New - Released as their debut single in 2014, this track set the energetic, big-room tone for the Axwell /\ Ingrosso project.
More Than You Know - A 2017 release that blended their classic house sound with contemporary pop vocals, becoming another major radio and festival hit.
The duo maintained a relentless touring schedule, headlining major festivals like Coachella, Tomorrowland, and Ultra Music Festival. They released a series of successful singles, including "Dream Bigger" and "Thinking About You," but never compiled a full-length studio album. In 2018, they announced the reunion of Swedish House Mafia, effectively pausing the Axwell /\ Ingrosso project, though their catalog remains a pivotal part of 2010s electronic dance music.
