Hong is So Wrong, Buttigieg's Radical Agenda, Michigan's No-Grade Policy | Last Call

Welcome to Last Call, a look at the biggest stories Jim and Greg covered over the past week on the 3 Martini Lunch.

This week, they discuss Wisconsin Dems at each other's throats over the governor's primary, how radical Pete Buttigieg's presidential agenda would be, the University of Michigan refusing to issue grades to first semester freshmen, and a Senate committee holding Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress.

First, they focus on Wisconsin, where many Democrats are furious at outgoing Gov. Tony Evers for aggressively trying to manufacture his preferred outcome in the governor's primary. Meanwhile, online posts from 2019 and 2020 are emerging in which the socialist frontrunner, Francesca Hong, wanted to ban Thanksgiving and felt uncomfortable eating around "old white people."

Next, they recoil as Pete Buttigieg tells Politico about his plans for radical change and incremental change if he's elected president in 2028. Jim and Greg detail just how insane Buttigieg's agenda is but point out the media will still call him a moderate because he doesn't yell much.

Then, they roll their eyes as the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts says freshmen will not get letter grades their first semester in order to help "curb the mental health crisis." The policy, which is set to begin in Fall 2027, will apply to all students. Jim and Greg wonder how we got this fragile.

Finally, Sen. Rand Paul and the Senate Governmental Affairs and Oversight Committee voted Thursday to hold Dr. Fauci in contempt of Congress for refusing to answer questions last week. Jim says he understands why this is happening but doubts much will ultimately come from it in the courts. Greg wonders the same but still thinks it's the right move.
