Mark Salamon - From Mechanical Engineer to Physical Therapist

Mark Salamon - From Mechanical Engineer to Physical Therapist

Author: Pete McCall & Glassbox Media December 31, 2021 Duration: 1:01:54
There are two types of people who go to physical therapy: those who LOVE to be active and might overdo it which results in an injury and those who are not active but become injured as the result of some sort of trauma. The goal of a physical therapist is to help a patient return to optimal function as quickly as possible. Since many people are in pain when seeing a physical therapist it can be a challenge to engage them and help them learn how to use exercise to heal the pain. Mark Salamon is a physical therapist who uses humor to help put his patients at ease. Mark wrote a book, Does it Hurt When I Do This?: An Irreverent Guide to Understanding Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation which uses humor to help the reader learn more about their body and how to keep it pain-free. On this episode of All About Fitness, Mark shares how we went from studying mechanical engineering to the human body and how that relates to one another; in addition he offers his insights on how you should workout and which exercises to avoid so that you can enjoy your favorite activities while remaining injury-free.
