The Ultimate Thrill & Over the Edge

This week on the BATTASS Podcast, we get the introduction of a one-off villain who really deserves more screen time (in any medium, really), the enthusiastically bombastic Roxy Rocket! We also see what would happen if Jim Gordon really decided it was time for Batman to get taken down, and trust us, he is formidable! It’s a couple of great one this week with The Ultimate Thrill and Over the Edge!



First up, in The Ultimate Thrill, Roxy Rocket, an energetic ex-stuntwoman who is now a thrill-seeking jewel thief, leads Batman on a frenzied chase through Gotham. With Batman ready to call her bluff, she may face her ultimate death-defying showdown. I think it’s safe to say and confirmed in so many words by the show’s creators, that The Ultimate Thrill is by far the horniest episode of Batman the Animated Series made up to this point. It’s a blast!



Next up in Over the Edge, during a fight with the Scarecrow, Batgirl is ambushed on a rooftop and falls to her death. Jim Gordon blames Batman for her fate and vows revenge. Gordon’s grief over the death of his daughter leads him into an all-out war on Batman, Robin, and Nightwing, even going so far as to recruit Bane to take down Batman once and for all. Batman’s back is against the wall, but all is not what it seems in this truly nightmarish scenario.



We learn a lot of things this week, from Roxy’s (not so) secret kinks to the episode that caused a fistfight between Sean and his sister, to Clay’s hatred of Bane’s new BDSM gear design, to whether or not Jim Gordon knows his daughter is Batgirl. It’s an hour of revelations, so hop on the nearest flying metaphor and check this one out!
