Ecstatic Grief: Birthing Baby Sage Without a Heartbeat

Ecstatic Grief: Birthing Baby Sage Without a Heartbeat

Author: Indie Birth Association April 7, 2021 Duration: 48:58

Being initiated into Motherhood with empty arms, Athanasia used her Shamanic Yoga background and Spiritual connection as a Psychic Medium and Energy Healer to dive deep into the healing journey her sweet daughter, Sage, brought into her life. Surrendering, accepting and allowing the sacred relationship of mother and child to unfold as the Universe would have it, not as Athanasia desired it to be.

Athanasia turned to the Bereavement groups to help support her process of grieving Sage. It was hearing other women’s story of healing and grieving that gave her the strength and courage to discover a unique relationship with her daughter on the Otherside. Links to these support groups are listed in the show notes below. A very special thanks to Athanasia for allowing me to record her and Sage’s story, and allowing me and trusting me to hold space for her in this way.

She is also very grateful to her doula, Maíra, who offered a very special closing of the bones ceremony and postpartum support. You can learn more about Maíra’s birth work at www.birthinghearts.com and follow Maíra on Instagram @mairadbmbirthkeeper.

You can connect with Athanasia on her website, www.shamanicyoga108.com, or follow her on Instagram @shamanic_yoga.

The Birth Warrior Podcast, brought to you by the Indie Birth Association, moves beyond mainstream narratives to explore the raw, powerful, and deeply personal landscape of autonomous birth. This isn't a how-to guide, but a collection of voices often left out of the conversation. Each episode features firsthand stories from individuals who have navigated pregnancy and childbirth on their own terms, reclaiming intuition and authority in the process. You'll hear candid reflections on the physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of this journey, discussions that intersect with holistic health, alternative family structures, and conscious parenting. The podcast delves into the mental and physical fortitude required, connecting the dots between personal autonomy, fitness, and overall family wellness. By centering these authentic narratives, the Birth Warrior Podcast creates a vital space for anyone questioning conventional paradigms, offering not just stories but a sense of community and validation for those exploring paths less traveled in the realm of birth and motherhood.
