Mit MeshCore und Meshtastic gibt es gleich zwei auf LoRaWAN basierende Techniken für Textkommunikation fernab des Internets. Die quelloffenen Ansätze laden zu kostengünstigen aber nicht weniger spannenden Experimenten ein, doch wie funktioniert das eigentlich? Wir geben euch einen Überblick über benötigte Komponenten und die dazugehörigen Techniken. Meshen macht Spaß und auch ihr könnt Teil des dezentralen Netzes sein! Auch in Zeiten erschwinglicher Datenoptionen gibt es Einsatzzwecke für den Datenaustausch abseits des Mobilfunks. Mit LoRaWAN gibt es eine vergleichsweise kostengünstige Lösung für einfache Textkommunikation. Hierauf aufbauend existieren gleich zwei Anwendungen, die insbesondere in den letzten Monaten von sich Reden gemacht haben: MeshCore und Meshtastic. Beide Ansätze sind open-source und laden zum spielerischen Erkunden ein, unterscheiden sich aber in einigen Details. Hierüber lassen sich dank quelloffener Firmware spielerisch resiliente und dezentrale Mesh-Netze aufbauen, die sich unter idealen Voraussetzungen über viele Kilometer erstrecken können. In Verbindung mit verknüpften Smartphones oder Computern sind so unter anderem einfache Textchats möglich - und das komplett ohne Internet. Auch in der Krisenprävention und Offroad-Kommunikation spielt die Technik eine wichtige Rolle. In diesem Vortrag erläutern wir die Grundlagen der Technik und zeigen übliche Komponenten und Use-Cases auf.
