Ich mache theoretische Informatik und stelle häufig fest, dass keiner so genau weiß was das ist. Ich auch nicht. Deshalb mag ich erzählen, was theoretische Informatik definitiv nicht ist. Auf dem Weg schauen wir uns das ein oder andere Tool aus der Theorie an; und andere Marotten. Außerdem: ein kleines Questbook, wie man Algorithmen implementiert, die bisher nur *theoretisch* existieren. Manche Probleme willst Du nicht lösen. Komplexe Probleme. Komplizierte Probleme. Oder schlicht: Welche die absolut nicht offensichtlich sind. Du bist nicht allein damit. Meistens wirst du normale™️ Probleme haben. Also Probleme, die andere schon vor dir hatten. Gelöst haben, hoffentlich. Vor langer Zeit. (Also in den 70ern – wir reden schließlich von theoretischer Informatik.) Wenn da ein Problem vor dir steht, wie findest du heraus, wie ein Theoretiker es nennt? Und wie auch immer es heißt, dessen Lösungen passen doch offensichtlich nicht auf dein Problem. Fast schon lächerlich ist dass es je dasselbe Problem sein sollte. Aber sollte es? Wirklich?
