**Wir reisen zurück ins Jahr 1961 und erfinden die ASCII-Tabelle neu.** Dieser Talk soll eine interaktive Zeitreise werden, um den Fragen nachzugehen: Warum sieht die ASCII-Tabelle so aus, wie sie aussieht? Und wie würde sie aussehen, wenn **wir** die ASCII-Tabelle entwickelt hätten? Die ASCII-Tabelle kennt jeder, der auch nur im Entferntesten etwas mit IT zu tun hat. Sie ist Bestandteil vieler Ausbildungen und Studiengänge. Aber habt ihr euch schonmal gefragt, warum zum Beispiel das große A auf 0x41 liegt? Also an der (dezimalen) Position 65? Warum nicht auf 0x40? Und warum ist eine Lücke zwischen den Groß- und Kleinbuchstaben? Und warum kommen die Großbuchstaben zuerst? Auch die Größe der Tabelle ist aus heutiger Sicht ungewöhnlich.
