Jaylon Johnson CALLS OUT Bears Defense: “We Haven’t Done A Thing”

Jaylon Johnson CALLS OUT Bears Defense: “We Haven’t Done A Thing”

Author: The B.R.E.A.K.S Media August 3, 2026 Duration: 20:20

Jaylon Johnson is not satisfied with what the Chicago Bears defense accomplished last season—and he delivered a powerful message entering 2026.

On today’s episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize breaks down Johnson’s honest assessment of a defense that led the NFL with 33 takeaways, including 23 interceptions and 10 fumble recoveries, but struggled in several other major statistical categories.

Chicago cannot enter the new season expecting Caleb Williams and the offense to score 40 points every week while the defense simply survives. Johnson believes that approach is unacceptable—and says the defense still has everything to prove. 🐻🔥

The challenge is even greater because two of Chicago’s most productive turnover creators, Kevin Byard and Nahshon Wright, are no longer on the roster. Together, they accounted for 15 of the defense’s 33 takeaways last season.

That puts even more pressure on Johnson, Tyrique Stevenson and veteran addition Coby Bryant, who arrives after recording four interceptions and contributing to one of the NFL’s top defenses. Bryant and Johnson have already made their presence felt in training camp by intercepting Caleb Williams and emerging as leaders in the secondary.

Haize also reacts to Cole Kmet’s selfless response when asked about his declining targets following the arrival of Colston Loveland. Kmet made it clear that winning matters more than individual production—and that he is prepared to embrace blocking, pass protection and whatever role Ben Johnson’s offense requires.

The Bears may be defending division champions, but this team is refusing to operate like it has already arrived.
