Commentary on the Epistle to the Colossians

Drawn from the writings of John Calvin, this Commentary on the Epistle to the Colossians offers a deep and historically grounded examination of a pivotal New Testament letter. The discussion centers on Paul's message to a congregation facing early doctrinal challenges, highlighting how truth can become diluted even within a faithful community. Calvin's insights unpack the context of divine judgment and the sobering reality that, despite the solid foundation laid by Epaphras, these believers soon found themselves besieged by persuasive falsehoods. Each episode of the podcast walks through the text carefully, considering the tragic ends met by three prominent churches mentioned, serving as a cautionary tale about the subtle infiltration of error. Listeners will find a methodical, verse-by-verse analysis that connects ancient concerns to enduring spiritual principles, making the epistle's warnings and encouragements strikingly relevant. Rather than a quick overview, this series invites a patient, reflective engagement with one of scripture's most rich letters concerning the supremacy of Christ. The tone is scholarly yet accessible, aimed at anyone wishing to move beyond surface-level reading to understand the layers of historical circumstance and theological weight contained in Colossians. This podcast stands as a valuable resource for personal study or group discussion, rooted in a classic Reformed perspective.
