328 | What Your Clutter Is Trying to Tell You

328 | What Your Clutter Is Trying to Tell You

Author: Amber Cammidge December 30, 2025 Duration: 24:01

Hey Guys,

You know that moment when you walk through your house and think, "I need to do something about this" — and then life pulls you in another direction?

This episode is about why that happens, especially for women who spend their lives taking care of everyone else — and how to finally stop the cycle without shame, pressure, or burnout.

When your nervous system is taxed from doing, managing, and holding everything together, your home often becomes the last thing you tend to. And then the guilt sets in. But clutter isn't a personal failure — it's a physiological response to overload.

The 4-Step Reset You'll Practice

When you notice stress or shame rising around clutter:

1. Label the feeling – Name what's actually happening in your body

2. Somatic anchoring – Place your hands on your body to signal safety

3. Exposure + acceptance – Stay present instead of avoiding

4. Self-compassion – Acknowledge that you were doing the best you could

This is how change starts — without forcing yourself to "do more."

Important Reminder

You can start with your nervous system.

You can start with your home.

Either way, you're moving toward regulation and order — as long as you're not doing it from pressure, shame, or control.

Regulate your nervous system, take action, and your identity shifts as a result.

Amber Cammidge hosts Declutter Your Chaos-Mindful Minimalism, a podcast that approaches the overwhelming task of clearing out your space with a unique blend of practicality and introspection. This isn't just about where to donate old clothes or how to fold a fitted sheet, though you'll find those tangible tips here. Instead, each conversation digs into the emotional roots of accumulation, exploring how our habits around stuff are often tied to memory, identity, or a sense of scarcity. The aim is to move beyond a one-time cleanup and foster a lasting, mindful minimalism that creates mental and physical room to breathe. You'll hear about resetting daily routines, building systems that actually work for your real life, and redefining what 'enough' truly means. Grounded in categories like self-improvement and mental health, this podcast recognizes that a calmer home directly supports a fitter, healthier, and more educated self. It's for anyone feeling weighed down by their possessions and ready to explore the quieter, more intentional life that exists just beneath the surface of the clutter. Tune in for honest talks that help you transform your environment from a source of chaos into a foundation for the life you're trying to build.
