AI and Automation Are Reshaping Revenue Cycle Management

AI and Automation Are Reshaping Revenue Cycle Management

Author: John Lynn August 17, 2026 Duration: 13:35

Anurag Mehta, Chief Executive Officer and Cofounder at Omega Healthcare, has seen a 10-20% increase in human productivity through AI in revenue cycle management (RCM), and expects at least another 20% improvement over the next couple of years. In our recent interview, Mehta describes the current stresses in healthcare RCM and where AI can help.

When you improve RCM, Mehta says, you improve profits in two ways: by handling bills more efficiently and by getting higher reimbursements by avoiding errors. Thanks to traditional techniques known as robotic process automation (RPA) and the latest AI, you can check 100% of submissions and prior authorization requests rather than just a small subset. Plus, for provider organizations, improved profitability also leads to better credit ratings and further savings.
