Values and Guiding Purpose

For many it's the beginning of the new school year! For others you may be half way through that beginning journey. How has it been so far?

In this episode I am focusing on why and how you can build your values and guiding purpose. This is an important foundation whether you are a homeschooler, unschooler or even traditional schooler.

It is important part of the homeschooling process because defining our values helps to guide our way.

Living with purpose means to be living in alignment with our values. And when we understand our values and purpose and are living in alignment with those things, it helps us to feel more confident (confidence repels those naysayers) which brings more joy and diminishes overwhelm (because it helps us to make clear decisions). It can even be our reference point to knowing whether what we are doing is successful.

I begin each year with our values and guiding purpose. In learning, family life and living.

Developing and getting clear on our family values and guiding purpose is also the first week's theme for my LIVE master class, Homeschooling With Purpose. It sets the stage for each step in the class which is designed to support each homeschooling parent in building a unique natural learning framework for their family.

Robyn Robertson hosts Honey! I'm Homeschooling The Kids, a conversation that goes far beyond curriculum choices and into the heart of what it means to learn and grow together as a family. This isn't about presenting a perfect blueprint; instead, each episode feels like an honest chat with a friend who gets it, exploring the nuanced realities of choosing an educational path outside the conventional system. You'll hear from a diverse range of voices-experienced homeschoolers, unschooling advocates, educational researchers, and parents just figuring it out-all sharing their stories, challenges, and triumphs. The discussions naturally weave through parenting philosophies, cultural perspectives on childhood, and practical advice for nurturing a rich, engaging home life. Tuning into this podcast means finding a supportive community and thoughtful reflections on creating a family culture that prioritizes connection, curiosity, and joy. It’s for anyone curious about alternative education or simply seeking inspiration for a more intentional and fulfilling life with their kids.
