Defining Success As A Homeschooler & Unschooler

Honey! I'm Homeschooling The Kids is a platform to share the stories of families living their own unique learning life. This learning life more often than not does not resemble the school classroom. Our community is a place to hear and share these stories and engage in a deeper discussion around the many layers that make up this learning journey. Deschooling. Childhood. Play. Learning. Parenting. Relationships.

In this Episode

This episode is a discussion from my Clubhouse community. Liana Francisco and I explore the idea of success. We explore our definitions and expectations around success and how that influences our homeschool. Have you thought about that? How does your ideas of what a successful person is influences your homeschool choices?

We further explore:

  • The pressures of "success" for our children- being above grade level, the praise we give or do not give, learning expectations
  • Dealing with Naysayers
  • Society Expectations- what do we take on and what can we let go of?
  • Parenting
  • What does it mean to be a successful homeschooler or unschooler?
  • Values & Purpose
  • Looking forward

Success holds personal meaning. Just remember that what you judge as successful may mean nothing to something else.
