Donnell Vista Point Disappearances

Donnell Vista Point Disappearances

Author: Locations Unknown August 7, 2021 Duration: 47:00
The Stanislaus National Forest is located in Tuolumne County California, near the northwestern part of Yosemite National Park. The forest is home to hundreds of miles of streams, rivers, and over a thousand miles of trails.  Yet, just beyond the forests beauty lies a dark and mysterious past.  From 2005 to 2016, three individuals have gone missing, without a trace, at the exact same location; Donnell Vista Point.  Join us this week as we investigate the Donnell Vista Point Disappearances.  (Episode 45)

Correction 1- During the location profile we correctly listed out the wildlife in this area of California.  However, we misspoke further in the episode in regards to Grizzlies in California.  One of the joys of doing the show live is you can't edit or re-record spots you mess up.  One of us asked if there were Grizzlies in this area and the other host replied no but stated there are Grizzlies in other parts of California.  This is incorrect.  There are no Grizzlies in California and there haven't been for decades.  Thank you to our listeners for pointing this out.

Correction 2 - The first subject of the episode was correctly described as moving from over seas to Oklahoma and residing in Nevada at the time of her disappearance.  We correctly mentioned that she originally drove from Nevada to Donnell Vista Point.  However, further in the episode, one of the hosts misspoke and referenced Oklahoma multiple times when he should have said Nevada.  We apologize for the error and again thank our listeners for pointing this out.

Locations Unknown ventures into the silent, vast spaces where people have simply gone missing. Hosts Mike & Joe guide each episode through a specific case, piecing together timelines from the final known moments, through the often-frustrating official searches, and into the lingering questions that haunt families and park rangers alike. This isn't just a true crime podcast; it’s a close look at the intersection of human error, unpredictable nature, and the peculiar geography of places like dense national forests and isolated mountain ranges that can swallow a person whole. You’ll hear about the decisions made in the critical hours, the terrain that complicated everything, and the community of experts and amateurs who keep looking. The show naturally explores how these landscapes, while beautiful, hold secrets, making the wilderness itself a central character in every story. Tune in for a respectful, detailed examination of stories that end not with a conclusion, but with an open map and a deepened mystery. The podcast digs into the cultural fascination with these vanishings and what they reveal about our relationship with the wild, remote corners of the country.
