Three tragic water-related deaths shook Arizona this past weekend: a 55-year-old woman vanished in the Colorado River, and two others perished in a high-speed boat crash on Lake Havasu. Authorities recovered Melissa Marie Miley from the river; witnesses saw her enter but never saw her resurface. On Lake Havasu, Charles Romer, 65, and Jennifer Luzzi, 59, died after their boat flipped violently into a campsite after hitting a peninsula at high speed. Investigations are underway as these incidents serve as sobering reminders of water’s hidden dangers—even in familiar spots.
