Season 7 Ep 6: Andréa Michel on Creating — and Being — the Container

Season 7 Ep 6: Andréa Michel on Creating — and Being — the Container

Author: Lisa Kuzman January 20, 2022 Duration: 41:01

Long time listeners will probably remember my guest this week! Certified trauma sensitive intuitive transformational coach Andréa Michel came onto the show back in season 4 to talk about healing from trauma, safety and gentleness, and of course a whole lot more. But today, she's here to tell us about her experience in READY!

Together, we discussed:

  • The lifelong journey of healing and self discovery
  • The importance of safety, especially for trauma survivors
  • Creating a space for people to heal and drink their own Kool-Aid
  • Embracing the full spectrum and experience of emotions

"How do we know what light is? We only know what light is because we've experienced darkness, right? How do we know what peace and safety feels like? We only know what peace and safety feels like because we've experienced storms. How do we know what love feels like? We know what love feels like because we've experienced the heartbreak. We've experienced the grief, we've experienced the anger, we've experienced the frustration. And so we have to be real about those things. See, the beauty of being a human being is we get to experience the full spectrum of our emotions. If we didn't have these emotions, then we will be trees. Then we will be cats. We will be dogs. We wouldn't be human beings. Part of what makes us human is our emotions. And not just that, but the full experience of them."

Andréa, I'm so happy to have had you in the READY program, and that you were willing to share your experiences today! Want more from Andréa? Head on over to andreamichel.com and follow her on Facebook and Instagram at @andreamichelconsulting.

There's a quiet shift happening in how we think about authority and influence, and New Wave Leadership Podcast is right at the heart of it. Host Lisa Kuzman believes traditional, top-down leadership models have run their course, proving ineffective for today's complex world. Instead, this movement champions a much broader, more inclusive vision. Each episode digs into the real, often unspoken challenges that come with stepping into a role of influence, whether you're in a corner office, a community group, or simply leading your own life. The conversations here actively work to expand our definition of who gets to be a leader, arguing passionately for the necessity of diverse identities, perspectives, and lived experiences at the helm. You'll hear frank discussions about authenticity, the personal hurdles leaders navigate behind closed doors, and practical ideas for cultivating your own unique leadership identity without conforming to outdated standards. Tuning into this podcast feels like joining a necessary dialogue-one that moves beyond theory to explore what it genuinely means to show up and make an impact on your own terms.
