#165: SPUNK: My New Book on Fatherhood

#165: SPUNK: My New Book on Fatherhood

Author: Danusia Malina-Derben May 29, 2022 Duration: 22:12

Celebration time in today's episode. I've written a book due out at the end of the month all about fathers, and fatherhood identity. This is so exciting to share especially as it involved research with 1500+ men, and is my second book in a year! SPUNK, which is also the title of my new book, is me sharing why I chose this title (sidenote for all the "mansplainers", I really do understand what the word means), what the meaning of this word originally was and how it relates to modern fatherhood right now. In reading the introduction to you, I hope I whet your appetite for more because the research findings are fascinating. A perfect gift for Father's Day and anytime you want to check out why fathers behave as they do, this is how one reviewer described SPUNK, "This book makes me want to be a better father. Even better it shows me how". Can't say fairer than that, right?!

"I love School for Mothers, it's an injection of badass" <– If that sounds like you, please consider rating and reviewing my show! This helps me support more mothers — just like you — move toward the badass life and business that they desire. Danusia Malina-Derben hosts Parents Who Think, a podcast built on the premise that thoughtful disagreement is more valuable than easy consensus. As an entrepreneur, author, and mother of ten, she facilitates candid conversations that deliberately challenge the comfortable assumptions and unspoken rules of modern parenthood. Each episode features intelligent parents from a wide spectrum of backgrounds, engaging in no-holds-barred debates on crucial dilemmas. The discussions are raw and unfiltered, offering listeners a range of perspectives that often exist outside mainstream parenting narratives. This isn't about finding a single right answer but about illuminating the complex, often hard realities of raising children. Whether your own views are conventional or more marginalized, this podcast provides a rare space for genuine intellectual friction. You'll hear nuanced arguments that prioritize thinking over dogma, inviting you to examine your own choices more deeply. The goal is clarity, not comfort, making it an essential listen for anyone who believes parenting deserves more than a recycled script. Tune in for conversations that interrupt the status quo, acknowledging that agreement is not the point-rigorous, compassionate thought is.
