Joseph Hill (1949–2006) was the charismatic lead singer, primary songwriter, and founder of the legendary Jamaican roots reggae band Culture. Founded in 1976 as a vocal harmony trio, originally named the African Disciples consisting of Joseph Hill (lead vocals), his cousin Albert "Ralph" Walker, and Roy "Kenneth" Dayes. They gained international fame working with Joe Gibbs and Errol Thompson (The Mighty Two) and later with Sonia Pottinger. Their 1977 debut album, "Two Sevens Clash," is considered a roots reggae masterpiece. It predicted an apocalypse on July 7, 1977, and became a massive hit in both Jamaica and the UK, significantly influencing the burgeoning punk rock scene. Known for his distinctive "piercing" voice and lyrics focused on Rastafarian values, social justice, and Jamaican history. Hill wrote and recorded approximately 30 albums with the group and was posthumously honored for his contributions to music by the Jamaican government and remains revered as a cornerstone of the "golden age" of reggae. _________________________________ 1 - Behold (00:00:00) 2 - Love Shine Bright (00:04:23) 3 - They Never Love In This Time (00:08:10) 4 - Down In Jamaica (00:12:28) 5 - Natty Dread Naw Run (00:16:14) 6 - Natty Never Get Weary (00:19:43) 7 - The International Herb (00:23:24) 8 - Get Ready To Ride The Lion To Zion (00:26:30) 9 - I'm Alone In The Wilderness (00:29:43) 10 - Black Starliner Must Come (00:32:52) 11 - I'm Not Ashamed / I Roy Under – Tight Wraps (00:35:17) 12 - See Them A Come / Pince Weedy – Mask Mi Mask (00:43:25) 13 - Two Sevens Clash (00:50:13) 14 - Wings Of A Dove (00:53:28) 15 - I Tried (00:57:07) 16 - Legalization (01:00:13) 17 - Addis Ababa (01:04:08) 18 - Riverside (01:07:16) 19 - Time Is Getting Harder (01:11:35) 20 - Humble African (01:15:29) 21 - Why Am I A Rastaman?
