Jarryd Rees is a skateboarder, videographer, photographer, short-film maker, youth worker and co-founder of Vinyl.Ltd skateboarding video production company. In his role as a youth worker, Jarryd provides essential care to young people who have a history of challenging behaviour and have been displaced, or simply have nowhere else to go. He supports them by being available to listen, converse and show kindness. Ultimately, he provides the fundamentals that most of us take for granted, yet so essential to building self-esteem in an individual. This is not a skateboarding podcast, this is a podcast about humans. The human journey if you will. But I must admit, it was so nice to sit down and talk-story with a pure skateboarder like Jarryd. He is a man who understands the value and power of being in his mid 20s. In this week's episode, Jarryd is with me to share his journey, experiences, challenges and hopes for the future.
