Alaska Weather 3/6 Morning - Blizzard Warning

Good morning. Alaska. I'm Aaron Jolly. Alaska's splitting three ways today. And where you're determines everything. **Southcentral** wakes up to 13 degrees and blowing snow. That north wind at 15 miles an hour is whipping up near-whiteout conditions right now. Snow intensifies through the day, heaviest around 3 P.M., dropping near an inch. Tonight the wind flips southerly and snow piles up fast. Expect 1 to 3 inches overnight as temperatures climb to 16 degrees. Saturday brings more snow showers with a high near 21 degrees. **Interior** is brutal. MinU S Two2 degrees with mostly clear skies. Step outside and it feels like minus 34 degrees — the kind of cold that bites exposed skin in minutes. Cover up. But relief is coming. Snow develops after 9 A.M., pushing temperatures up to 11 degrees by afternoon. Tonight's the big story — snow ramps up with 1 to 3 inches and a low near 2 degrees. Saturday continues snowy with another 1 to 2 inches possible and a high near 10 degrees. **Southeast** is the warmest spot at 38 degrees, but you're getting soaked. Heavy rain moves in this morning — three-quarters to one inch of rainfall. Southeast winds gust to 20 miles an hour. Tonight stays wet with rain showers and a low near 37 degrees. Saturday brings a transition — rain showers shift to rain and snow mix by afternoon as temperatures reach 39 degrees. Saturday night turns fully to snow with 1 to 3 inches possible and a low near 28 degrees. In **looking ahead, ** Sunday through Tuesday brings widespread snow showers statewide. Southcentral and Southeast see 1 to 3 inches Sunday. Interior stays cloudy with flurries. By midweek, brutal cold returns — Interior lows plunge to minus 31 degrees Tuesday night. See you tomorrow.
