Author: The Weather Podcast, Inc. March 4, 2026 Duration: 2:13
Good morning. Alaska. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and the cold hits you like a physical wall. Interior Alaska wakes up to dangerous conditions. Actual temperatures sit at minus 29. But factor in the wind? It feels like minus 45. That's the kind of cold where breathing actually hurts. You'll want to Dress warmly in layers if you're heading out early. In the next 24 hours. Down in Southeast, a completely different story unfolds. Snow is falling hard. Juneau and the northern panhandle could see 3 to 7 inches through the day. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until noon. Travel will be difficult this morning. But tonight, that snow transitions to a rain-snow mix as temperatures climb into the mid-30s. Southcentral sees some sun today with a high near 11 degrees. But around 7 A.M., wind chills dip to minus 25. The afternoon brings relief as temperatures climb. Tonight drops to minus 4 under mostly clear skies. Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. The pattern shifts late Thursday. Southcentral sees a chance of snow by afternoon. A Winter Storm Watch is posted for the Eastern Alaska Range. Seven to 15 inches of snow possible from Thursday night through Saturday. Friday looks wet across Southeast with rain and highs in the low 40s. The Interior sees snow chances returning Friday into the weekend. We're gaining nearly 6 minutes of daylight today. Spring equinox sits just over two weeks away. Tonight's full moon will shine bright over the clear, cold Interior. Today's highs range from 4 degrees in the Interior to 37 in Southeast. Tonight's lows drop to minus 28 in the Interior, minus 4 in Southcentral. And 31 in Southeast. Charge your phone before you head out. That cold kills batteries fast. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
