DR. JENN IS A BREAST SURGEON, INTEGRATIVE ONCOLOGIST, AUTHOR, PODCAST HOST, AND FOUNDER OF PERFEQTION IMAGING. Dr. Jenn Simmons is a pioneering force in the world of breast cancer care. Once a renowned breast cancer surgeon, Dr. Jenn transformed her practice after her own journey as a patient, becoming an integrative oncologist with a mission to revolutionize breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and screening. DR. JENN is the author of the best-selling book, "The Smart Woman's Guide to Breast Cancer," hailed as a must-read for anyone navigating this challenging journey. As the host of the insightful podcast "KEEPING ABREAST WITH DR. JENN," she shares her expertise and passion for holistic health.

Dr. Jenn's Notes from the Sidelines:

  1. 1/3 or more of breast cancer is created unnecessarily by the way we screen. Mammograms are radiation, and repeated radiation causes cancer.
  2. 1 in 5 women will have cancerous changes in the breasts, but 1 in 5 women will not die of breast cancer. The vast majority of women with a diagnosis don't die of breast cancer.
  3. We are a diagnosis-treat society. More diagnoses = more treatment, but the same number of deaths are happening year after year. We have created an epidemic of disease without improving the quality of life... in fact, we've diminished the quality.
  4. In conventional medicine, we're focused on symptoms. And what you focus on grows. The system doesn't want you healthy, because then there's no role for them.
  5. Instead of focusing on a tumor, ask why the cancer is there to begin with. What do you have that you don't need and what do you need that you don't have.
  6. Breast cancer, or any cancer, is a normal response to an abnormal environment.
  7. You can't get healthy in the same environment where you got sick.
  8. If you're not sleeping, you're not repairing and healing.
  9. Medical school doesn't teach critical thinking. It's fall in line or else, follow the rules or be labeled a quack.
  10. We need the foundational things: good food, drink, movement, good thoughts, sleep, detox.
  11. It's not whether you fall down, it's if you get up. You can't get up unless you give your body what it needs. We are built to heal and be healthy, but you have to give the body what it needs and take away what it doesn't.
  12. Big Pharma makes drugs that make us live longer... but we are not living BETTER.
  13. Bioidentical hormones are not talked about, because if you are on them, then you probably don't need the other 10-15 meds you're on.
