The many layers of her journey have allowed her to experience everything from development of interpersonal connections at farmers markets, owning and operating a restaurant/bakery, custom cake creations, to podcasting about what is on our plates beyond food, and really peeling back the layers in life so we can shift our portions to not only nourish our bodies, but our hearts, minds, and souls as well.

What’s On Your Plate podcast is a space to connect on all things that make our plates in life heavy & abundant and seeks out transformative, inspiring and healing conversations.

Her take on things is that if you want to become a better version of yourself, you have to be willing to change what isn’t working, find purpose in your pain, be willing to change your mind, & get out of your own way!

The Juicy Bits:

  1. There are many digestive benefits to eating plant-based: less bloating and bathroom emergencies, which are great if you are an endurance runner.
  2. You have to have more than one WHY to continue living a vegan lifestyle long-term.
  3. People are afraid of what they don't know or they're afraid they'll be lacking something.
  4. All of life is learning and if you're not evolving in some way then what is the point?
  5. Transformation happens in little steps, so be open to the journey taking you to the next right thing.
  6. There should not be food scarcity in our world with the amount of food we produce. The problem is we produce so much to feed animals that eventually end up on some people's plates. So if we just cut out the unfortunate animal middlemen, more people would have food to eat.
  7. Consciousness happens when you start understanding that your choices affect more than you.
  8. ANIMALS ARE ALL SENTIENT BEINGS. Just because people have always eaten animals doesn't make it right.
  9. Let's rebel against big business and governments that are telling us to do things that keep us in the machine of feeling bad and needing meds.
  10. All of life is learning and it's best learned when in nature, outside, and off screens.
  11. We're meant to be in community... even extroverts.
  12. Don't be afraid to get in the kitchen. Anything can be made from scratch.
  13. Sarah's favorite foods include tofu, fresh produce for juicing, and dark chocolate, like THIS ONE.
