This week in The Labia Lounge I interviewed the incredibly impressive Jiabao Li.
Jiabao Li is an artist, inventor, and professor whose work explores more-than-human ecologies, feminist biotech, multispecies intelligence, and how technology reshapes perception. Her work has been exhibited at MoMA, Ars Electronica, the Venice Architecture Biennale, Exploratorium, and The Contemporary Austin. Her TED Talk uncovered how technology mediates the way we perceive reality, and she was named Forbes China 30 Under 30. I've never been so blown away by someone's body of work and the way their mind works more than I am with this woman!
She's growing clitoris's in the lab from her own menstrual blood, a heart for her mother who has heart disease, creating the most prolific body of work and art I've literally ever seen, and pioneering so many epic projects at the intersection between bio-tech, nature, art, and activism. We cover everything from hypo-sex, to growing up in China as a girl during the one child policy times, and her approach to everything she does with a unique and creative feminism lens.
