A tragic helicopter crash claimed the lives of NBC4 reporter Eliana Moreno, pilot George Marciniw, and bystander Edy Gutierrez Mejia while covering a bus collision. Federal investigators are reviewing the chopper’s own camera footage to uncover what went wrong. Fellow journalist Chris Cristi, who knew both victims personally and even flew with George before, described the tight-knit, high-risk world of news helicopters — where trust runs deep and loss hits hard. Despite the devastation, Cristi honored their legacy by reaffirming the vital mission: to serve the public, no matter the danger.
