Boorjal Radio

Boorjal Radio is an independent Pashto-language broadcaster from Afghanistan that defines itself as non-governmental, non-profit and strictly non-political, created with one declared mission - the promotion of the Pashto language and Pashtun culture. It calls itself the only Pashto radio streaming live 24 hours a day, and its playlist is unusually broad for a station of this kind: classic and original recordings sit next to folk songs, ghazals and contemporary Pashto pop.

The station is part of the Boorjal media project, whose website combines the live broadcast with a Pashto and Dari news digest, a library of poetry and song lyrics, and a directory of other Afghan stations. Music is mixed with poems and entertainment programs, all aimed at Pashto speakers in Afghanistan, Pakistan and the diaspora around the world. There is no FM frequency to hunt for: the broadcast lives online, accessible through the official boorjal.com site and popular radio apps and directories.
