About 3GV Gold 1242 AM

3GV Gold 1242 is Gippsland's classic hits and talkback service, branded on air as Gippsland's GOLD and heard on both 1242 AM and a 98.3 FM repeater. The callsign points straight at the Gippsland Latrobe Valley it serves, with studios in Traralgon shared with sister station TRFM.

The frequency opened on 26 April 2002, when Ace Radio moved long-standing 3TR across to a new FM licence and launched 3GV in its place - Gippsland being one of the last Australian regions without commercial FM radio. An FM repeater from Mount Taylor followed in 2017, extending Gold across Bairnsdale and East Gippsland, while AFL Nation football coverage remains a fixture of the schedule.

English-language and locally rooted, the station also streams free online, carrying Latrobe Valley radio well beyond regional Victoria - an easy classic hits web radio listen online for Gippsland locals and country-radio fans everywhere.
