UltraCool Radio

UltraCool Radio is a Melbourne web station with a slogan that does the describing for it: sophisticated and eclectic music. The station runs on an automated DJ system around the clock, serving a playlist that refuses to sit in one genre - as its own line puts it, you just have to listen to get it.

The eclectic tag is honest: expect leftfield pop, cool jazz, electronic textures and soundtrack-worthy oddities, sequenced more like a good mixtape than a format. A Now Playing panel with album art and a buy-this-album link sits on the website, so every track that catches the ear can be identified on the spot.

Small, self-run and proudly without a marketing department, it is the kind of station that exists because someone in Melbourne has taste and a streaming server. Free to listen to online, UltraCool Radio makes an easy eclectic web radio listen - cool music from Australia, for kindred ears anywhere in the world.
