About Radio Vətən
The name says it: Radio Vətən is homeland radio - vətən is the Azerbaijani word for the motherland. Broadcasting from Baku and heard on 92.3 FM, the station lives up to its slogan Azerbaycanin Radiosu by keeping Azerbaijani music at the centre: estrada classics, popular song and the traditional mugam art alongside newer pop.
Listeners clearly feel the pull. Reviews on radio directories range from expatriates who say homeland radio tastes different when you live abroad, to mugam devotees naming favourite performers and modes. After joining the Global Media group and a period of renewal, the station rebuilt its stream and carries its line-up around the clock.
The online feed runs in MP3 and opens in any browser, app or smart speaker, so the Azerbaijani sound travels far beyond the FM footprint. Free web radio, a live listen online - a small piece of home, wherever home currently is.
