Radio @Plus

Radio @Plus - aplus.fm, billing itself as the first internet radio - is built by its own audience. The flagship is Okhota za Khitom, the Hunt for the Hit, now in its twelfth season: listeners upload their favourite tracks, the community votes, and a winner is crowned each Sunday with hundreds of participants taking part.

Interactive programming fills the rest of the week: Wednesday's request show passes greetings, jokes and dedications through the live host, Tuesday pairs a presenter's playlist with listener voting and games, and a round-the-clock feed previews all the uploaded entries between broadcasts.

The result feels less like a station and more like a club with a schedule - Russian-language web radio that anyone can join by uploading a track, voting or calling in during the live shows. Free online radio, a live listen online where the next hit may belong to you and the playlist belongs to everyone.
