ABC Grandstand Sport

ABC Grandstand Sport carries one of the oldest names in Australian broadcasting. Grandstand has been the sports flagship of the ABC since the 1930s, when its cricket commentary first became the sound of the Australian summer, and the brand still stands for live ball-by-ball coverage and the weekend football calls.

Today Grandstand lives as a dedicated sport stream: cricket in summer, AFL and NRL through the winter, plus the big international events when Australia plays. It is commentary-first radio - no music, no filler, just the game as it happens, called by the ABC sports team in the measured, descriptive style the brand invented. The stream is available online, so a Test match at the MCG or a final at the Gabba can be followed live from anywhere in the world. For generations of Australians the word Grandstand simply means Saturday afternoon.
