3JOY Joy FM 94.9

JOY 94.9 is the LGBTIQA+ community radio of Melbourne, and one of the very few full-time queer radio stations in the world. On air since 1993, first on temporary licenses, and since 2001 with a permanent place on the FM dial, it gives the queer community of Australia its own broadcast voice: music, talk, news and culture, made by and for the community.

The station has grown with the community it serves - from the years when queer voices on air were a statement, to the era of marriage equality and beyond. Programs range from dance and pop music shows to politics, health and the arts, with volunteers behind the microphones. JOY broadcasts on 94.9 FM in Melbourne and streams live online, which has made it a companion for LGBTIQA+ listeners across Australia and around the world, at any hour.
