HHJ Black Ink on British Library Paper 1 to 20

These are the first 20 black ink drawings on British Library paper from my Heckel's Horse Jr. series. A lady from East Finchley sold the paper to me for next to nothing. It belonged to her husband who had recently died, so she was having a clear out. They are painted in good quality Winsor and Newton Indian ink and PVA glued to the cardboard. I've also PVA'd over the top of them to give them a gloss finish. The printed text besides each painting reads: This is an ORIGINAL PAINTING by me, HECKEL’S HORSE JR. also known as: THE CAMDEN MARKET FREE ART MAN & EDGEWORTH JOHNSTONE. It’s NOT a print. ========================= heckelshorsejr.com Show more EXHIBITED AT TATE MODERN. AUCTIONED AT CHRISTIE’S. NOW GIVING MY ART AWAY ON THE STREETS OF CAMDEN MARKET. Since 2013 Billy Childish and I have made 200ish Heckel’s Horse paintings together at his studio in Chatham Dockyard. The vast majority are either 6x5 or 6x4 foot on deep edge Belgian linen stretched canvas. Billy and I have been wanting to do a Heckel’s Horse show, pretty much since we started painting them, but to put it extremely mildly, the relevant gallery people have been less than enthusiastic. A few years ago we tried for a Heckel’s Horse book, but whatever we do seems to get booted into the long grass and forgotten about. So in 2022 I thought “F\*\*k it. I’ll just do my own versions of the Heckel’s Horse paintings so the anti-art brigade don’t have any control over them.” Imagine a record label telling their bands what songs they’re allowed to perform live. Imagine record shops charging £50,000 an album. FREE ART FREES ART is an art movement against the anti-art establishment Heckel’s Horse has fallen victim of.
