#21 From Consultant To Working At The Zoo For A Happier & More Purposeful Life: This Is How Daley Did It

Author: Hearts Wide Open April 9, 2024 Duration: 57:21

We talked to Daley who went from being unhappy as a strategy consultant to working at the zoo. He talks about the dark side of being a strategy consultant, how he discovered his passion for animals and how working at the zoo feels more aligned to his purpose, which ultimately makes him much happier.

Daley opens up about how being a "nice guy" worked against him and how he strives to become an "integrated male", embracing all his different components of self: Emotional, physical and psychological.

In his time off and when he's not taking breathtaking photos of animals with his camera, he has a steady running routine to support his physical and mental health. He is also a serial marathon runner and raises awareness and funds to help save the endangered painted dogs.

Two friends started talking honestly about the weight they were carrying, and that simple, difficult act became Mental Health And Men's Health With Hearts Wide Open. This podcast is built on the idea that speaking your truth, especially about internal struggles, shouldn't be a radical act for men, yet it often is. Each episode moves beyond the stigmas to foster genuine conversation. You’ll hear from the hosts of Hearts Wide Open as they navigate their own journeys, creating a relatable and safe space that feels more like a candid talk with friends than a formal lecture. That atmosphere extends to their guests, which include both everyday men sharing personal stories and experts from psychology and spirituality who provide practical insights. The discussions are raw and real, covering the silent pressures, the unspoken rules of masculinity, and the quiet victories of personal growth. Tuning into this podcast means joining a community where vulnerability is reframed as a profound strength, and where listening feels like a step toward lifting a shared burden. It’s for anyone tired of pretending everything is fine and curious about the liberation that comes with hearts, indeed, wide open.
